he roof trim is the same with or without the panels. The roof trim must be removed to hold the panels in place. There is a lip around the edge of the panels that slips under the roof trim to hold it on. Interestingly, on some cars, the trim was also spot welded into place with a fabric pad under them. Others were simply set in place, and held down with only the roof trim.

Either way, the roof trim must come off to install the panels, and the headliner must be "disturbed".

Is the same roof trim used then, or was a different type of roof trim used to hold the inserts down?

Will it also be possible to glue the inserts in place (with epoxy glue maybe?) so that I won't have to disturb the headliner and roof trim?

Just a thought!

Oh yes, and if you don't you will later, when the water leaks in the mounting holes and ruins the headliner anyway!

I believe that you do need to remove the headliner in order to remove the roof trim that holds them down.

@Paul:

As you know, I own a 60 Crown 4 door HT. How difficult is it to fit these roof panel inserts? I really like them a lot, allthough they are already high on the dollar at Ebay... However, I don't want to tear down the headliner if that is necessary to fit those inserts.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to mount these roof panels?

They are made to fit a four door. I believe that the request was for a Two Door, which requires longer panels. Also, these specific panels will only work on '60 & '61. They could be made to work on '62, but would require some skill, and the acquisition of a several more expensive trim pieces. 1963 had a completely different roof line and these will NOT fit that year.

Hi: Someone on the list was looking for a pair of Stainless Steel roof panel inserts. There is a pair for sale on E-bay for the 1961-63 Imperial. I'm not sure if those are the years he was looking for.

They are item # 200206339211.
