Note that the plain single grade oils now sold by reputable vendors
(Chevron, NAPA etc.) have the same SAE ratings as the multigrade oils - that
is what the SAE classifications are for.  

If you use SJ rated oil, regardless of what grade, you are going to get the
best additives that are available from modern chemistry.  

The viscosity additive argument is an independent subject.  

I say potato, you say pototoh - - -

the fsm from the mid 60s recommended the oil based on what was available at 
that time. The oils we can can buy today are better at control of soot and 
other deposits. Do we real believe SAE 30 weight dino oil is better to use 
than the synethics of today.???
