Re: IML: '05 Deep South Midwinter Meet - Update

I wanted to add that I came to Gulf Shores last year and it was a blast. It was our first Imperial gathering and even though my 65 was not finished we decided to fly into New Orleans and see what it was all about. This year will be different, not only in location but I'll be driving my "new" 65 from Tulsa (weather permitting). After almost 3 years of restoration, I can't wait to show her to all the Imperialists that will gather in Biloxi.

I hope there will be a big turnout.

> The second annual Midwinter Meet here in the warm, sunny South will take place the weekend of January 14 thru 17, 2005 in Biloxi, MS. We are pleased (THRILLED) to announce the meet will be held at the historic Broadwater Beach Resort Hotel! When we traveled to Biloxi two weeks ago and visited this facility, I knew instantly it was where the meet should be held. It was built in 1939 and has received renovations and additions over the years. It was THE destination hotel until all the casinos began appearing on the scene in the '90s. Presidents and other dignitaries have stayed here over the years and it was the scene of many an important social event along the Mississippi Gulf Coast for decades! The grounds, pool and rooms are vintage but very nice and comfortable. The vintage part is what really sold us on this hotel and is why we want to hold the meet here as opposed to the newer casino hotels. You feel as though you have stepped back into the sixties when you drive up to the front door! The pool and terrace look like so
mething right out of 1960s Las Vegas! I am not exaggerating. The ballroom (we are planning to have dinner there the Saturday evening of the meet) is not to be believed. The room is round and VERY sixties!

Please indicate you are making your reservation for the Midwinter Vintage Car Meet so you will be put with the entire group. Also they have given us a discounted room rate so it is doubly important that you mention the group you will be with.

We are looking forward to seeing all the regulars from Anniston and hopefully some new faces as well. These meets are so much fun and a great opportunity to meet fellow Imperial owners as well as other vintage car enthusiasts. If driving to southern Mississippi is not feasible, please consider flying to New Orleans and renting a car for the short drive to the Broadwater (I'm guessing here but maybe an hour and a half drive). The main thing is that you join us for this long weekend (MLK) in mid January. It will be a weekend you won't soon forget!
