Dear Fellow FWDLK'ers,
Our '58 Belvedere Hardtop
with a 318 V-8 has been a bear to start since I purchased
it 18 mos ago. Cold or warm weather has no effect on
the starting effort.
I've replaced the carb and
choke and tuned to specs but it continues to crank and put undo
stress on the starter. So thinking that the fuel bowl empties
overnight or after 12 hours, I put on an electric fuel pump and
by hitting a fuel button ( I installed it under the ingnition switch)
for 10-15 seconds the fuel bowl would fill up and a few quick
accelerator pumps would open do the trick. No dice. The only solution
is to continue using a quick spray of starting fluid. Any
suggestions? Thank you.
Mary Beth Bayerlein
PS: The mileage is 20K
