On the back of each DOT approved tire there is a small oval with 4 digits in
it ,the first digits are the week of the year the second two are the year.
2099 would be the 20th week of 1999. My tire guy won't touch a tire more
than 7 years old.

Think about it.
You: I need a set of 4 tires.
Them: Fix ya right up, $488.00 plus tax
You: Put them on
Them: There ya are, and be sure to be back in 6 years, regardless of
milage, to replace them before they blow up.
That won't fly too well.

I think if age was so much of an issue on tires wouldn't the tire
companies be the first to let the American people know so we would all go
out and buy new tires whether we need them or not?
