On '55 Plymouths (and probably all Forward Look Mopars) the engine number is
stamped on the frame in two places: (1) on the outboard surface of the
drivers side frame rail just aft of the rear wheel and (2) on the upper
surface of the drivers side frame rail below the front seat area.  You can
find the first one fairly easily with a trouble light and a wire brush.  The
second one is only accessible with the body removed from the frame.

If you are "restoring" the car then it should have the correct engine and the
engine and frame numbers should match.  If you're just building a nice driver
then it probably doesn't matter...
