Re: [FWDLK] fuel economy

We just went through a similar discussion of mileage on the mopar list,
where many people were surprised to hear that some people are getting in
the 20's with small-block B-bodies, as much as 30 mpg with a /6 A-body. We
went over the usual check on speedo accuracy, etc- and the claims do seem
to be real.
The common factor is rear end ratio. everyone getting great mileage is
running a rear end like 2.76 or so. Just like mom always said, you trade
the ability to do stoplight burnouts for great mileage, or vice versa- just
depends on what kind of driving you intend.
For 60 and up mopars, rear end ratio swaps are straightforward- but I
don't know what's entailed in ratio swaps for the earlier cars. (But I'll
bet someone else here does know.)

Sorry to tell you but I get 17-18 MPG with my 2bbl 318. When I get my
2x4bbl 350 to run that is probably history....
