Re: [FWDLK] ignition troubles

YOU PROBABLY HAVE A WORN OUT DISTRIBUTOR CAM. ONE LOBE IS NOT OPENING
THE POINTS. THE OTHER POSSIBLITY IS THE UPPER SHAFT IS BENT. IT CAN BE
STRAIGHTENED WITH CARE . MOUNT THE DISTRIBUTOR IN A VICE AND CHECK THE
POINT GAP AT EACH LOBE POSITION. THEY SHOULD ALL BE THE SAME. IF YOU
FIND JUST ONE BAD THEN THE LOBE IS GONE IF THEY GET PROGRESSIVELY
TIGHTER THEN LOSER THEN THE UPPER SHAFT IS BENT.A 5/8 BOX END WRENCH
PLACED OVER THE PART WHERE THE ROTOR FITS CAN BE USED TO STRAIGHTEN IT
BY BENDING AND RECHECKING THE POINT GAP UNTIL ALL ARE THE SAME BUT IT
REQUIRES A LOT OF PATIENCE. A REPLACEMENT DISTRIBUTOR MIGHT BE A MORE
PRACTICAL SOLUTION FOR SOME.
GOOD LUCK.
