I am working on doing this conversion. I was told that it is possible if you
replace the detent spring in the trans and make a new bracket. The existing
sprins is too strong for the pushbuttons and they wont move the lever.  My
project is not moving as fast as I hoped but when I do get to this point I
will post what I come up with.

Some months ago someone mentioned procedures for
converting the MoPar A500/A518 or post-'66 A904/A727
to shift via cable, which would allow retention of the
pushbuttons. Anybody know more about this? If I ever
build the '57 D100 pickup of my dreams I'll want to do
this.
