Thanks to Bill (as always), Neil and Roger van Hoy for
their detective work. The consensus seems to be that
'60 was the dividing line for non-ATF P/S fluid.

Since Ma went over to Constant Control P/S in '58, but
did not change fluid specs until '60, it might be
worth learning more about other spec changes if any
that went on between '58 and '60. It seems possible
that the non-ATF might work better on the earlier
years as well. I'm reminded of the more recent problem
with FWD automatic overdrives, where the trannies
actually required 7176 ATF for proper operation but
the factory literature still called for Dexron...
