Re: [FWDLK] 59 PLYM V-8s

Actually certain letters were skipped.  For example, between 1960 and 1961, the letters went from P to R (Q was skipped).  Because the letter O is too much like a zero, it too was probably skipped.  I would guess that the appropriate letter for 1959 was N, but this is just a guess.

Eddee,
"R" equates to a 1961- 361, which I have in my car,  so working backward from there, 60 would be "P", 59 would be "0", which seems unbelieveable. Can anybody help here?

Hello List Members,
I need your expertise on the 318s and 361s in the 59 Plymmys.

Where exactly are the engine numbers stamped??
Is there a style or prefix to the numbers that would identify it to a the 59 body style?

EXAMPLE: a 57 Fury 318 would be stamped   'FP31'
                 a 58 350 would be stamped 'L350'  or 'FLP350' if put in a FURY.

Thank You    ED     L.I. N.Y.
