[FWDLK] VIN SWAPPING? BODY SWAPPING!!

Y'all are so upset about "restoring" a car (hopefully: "correctly") by
swapping VIN & Body tags----- but @ what 'point' does any car become
non-original. Is a 300 still a 300, with
a different "300" engine? Howsabout with a NY'er -replacement block?
Howsabout with ALL NEW body (let's say : 100%) parts, BUT, with the
'original' VIN & Body tags, & (stamped-) frame?

Howsabout restoring a 300 conv, (correct/original 'tags) with 100%
hardtop parts, including engine?

Howsabout shaving & re-stamping (with 'correct engine number, &
internals) a NY'er engine

All "ok", so far, or not? Anybody know (of) anyone who has done any of
the "above" restorations, before? Lemme know what's "fraudulent", so
far, with you, & whom you've reported to the Resto-Police .

[BTW, I take NO personal-offense with your indignation; my "Horace" has
100% correct paint-colors, & D500 provenance/pedigree] ; I've seen
lotsa "red" "D500's" with "KDS" engine codes and/or 'incorrect'
body-tags , & I DON'T like 'finding' them, either!

BUT, having said that, & having seen hardtops
being 'converted' into convertibles (with H.T. VINS), & being
auctioned-off @ Barrett - Jackson , without anything being said about
their bogusness, I personally do not have a (major) problem (especially
with a "correct")
restoration using ORIGINAL VIN & Body tags.

[ Well, whatabout "repro" tags?? ; I wouldn't 'go', that far, UNLESS
the car was otherwize legitimate].

This is VERY much along the lines of 'converting' to a
convertible....but, I (& @ least one other person) know that the
only-known 1957 RUNNING/ORIGINAL dual-carb Super D500 IS an all-white,
gold/.black-interior, manual steering & manual-brakes(!!!) Coronet 2-dr
( in PRIMO condition) , BUT, a certain person (not too smart, but plenty
devious) swapped body/trim/paint/interior , & then SOLD it, as a "Custom
Royal 2-tone ! It's now on the east coast, & some of you might "know"
the car
(it's the one with the white firewall). THAT, to me is a coupla crimes!!
