Re: [FWDLK] gas tank removal

Terry,
I didnt have that quite right last Email. Sorry about that. Inability to concentrate..I'm blaming  it on my 5 yr old daughter...(smile)
The HOUSING of the filler tube is attached with one screw to the trunk floor.
The actual filler tube itself installs with "O" ring seal into the gas tank. First reattach the tank straps.
Now if you release the filler tube at the gas door and use a clever homemade tool which will grab that filler tube without damaging it,  pull and twist out the filler pipe. Now the  tank is free to drop.

Subject: [FWDLK] gas tank removal

Hi all:
Thanks so much for all the reply's on my last question. I will try heating up the dust boot in hot water and then stretch over the body the drive shaft.
I am now attempting to remove my gas tank for reconditioning. I have the two straps off the bottom of the tank, and the gas has been drained.
How do I get the tank free from the filler neck ? Is it attached?
I dont want to screw things up and want to check before I attempt a good guess.
Thanks all again
