Re: [FWDLK] Dual point distributor. Worthwhile addition?

Will this effect the older version points? maybe not last as long?

James,

The purpose of a dual point distributor is to increase the dwell time so the
ignition coil can charge longer, resulting in a bigger spark. This works
best at higher rpms where the time to charge the coil is less. At normal
rpms, the coil reaches saturation and maximum spark before the dwell time is
over. In normal driving, you will see no difference.

You would be much better off swapping your old marginal ignition coil for a
modern high voltage coil which will yield 3 or 4 times the spark voltage,
even with a single point distributor.

I am curious, has anyone added a dual point distributor to their FDLK car?
Is it worth the upgrade?
