Hi everyone, I seldom wright to the list, but enjoy all the commentary that
goes on. This one hit a nerve with me. I have four 1960 Plymouth cars in
excellent drivable condition that i keep garaged.All are close to showroom
condition. I have these cars in great shape. They all look new and are much
admired by the public when i take the cars out, and believe me or not my
kids, ages 10, 7, 4 and my wife come along for the rides.I tak the crs out
most weekends to church ,dinner etc... I really feel for the collector who
sits on so many cars that he cannot restore but "someday" he will get to
them. My exprience with these folks is that they are in a financial
situation where they CANNOT afford to restore these cars but thy have a hope
that someday they will have the $$$ to do so. Who are these people kidding.
One of my cars was purchased this way. The fellow had over 60 Mopars on his
lot and from what i was told he was planning on restoring all of them to
thier original condition. This fellow fell ill and passed away. His estate
did not want any of these old cars and therefor sold them to junk yards and
to other collectors with the same mentality. I was lucky enough to pick the
best of the lot before it was sold. Folks PLEASE enjoy your cars and drive
them and show them. DO NOT let them sit and rot and hope for that big
payday that will allow you to restore and hit it big.
My Philosophy... If you can afford 20 piece of crap cars that will require
hundreds of thousands of$$$$$ to restore, Pick one restore to the best of
your ability and be happy, Because most or 85% of the original owners of
these cars that were purchased in the late 50's early 60's are now pushing
up daisys, if you know what i mean.
