Re: [FWDLK] LOOK GUYS-----I NEVER DRIVE IT......

Actually Ron, I think we are ALL caretakers. Not one of us is going to be here in the next 100 years. As far as buying the purist cars, well, if I had the bucks, you can bet your bottom dollar that I would own one and drive the wheels off it. HOWEVER, I would still take part in removing all the typical maintenance parts (sure, I'll keep em, just like I did with my Belvy) and replace them with modern, safer and more durable parts (i.e. water hoses, plug wires, plugs, fan belts, etc.).

If the purist take offense to "our" way of thinking (driving, not trailering) them my deepest apologies for buying their cars. But, in any case, I would rather just be enjoying and driving than sitting and looking. Case in point is my previously mentioned `61 DeSoto. Quite possibly the LAST assembled DeSoto, ever. It was built on the last day, with the highest recorded sequence number on file. IIRC, Dean (National DeSoto Club President) told me my sequence number was something like 30 or so HIGHER than the previously listed last one. I do NOT, however have the last VIN. That one was on a 2dr. Mine is a 4dr, and it is believed that there was not a 4dr built on the last day. No denying the other 2 doors on my car. That being said, with the possibility of a super rare care, and blah blah blah, I still drive it like I would any other car. Sparingly? HA! Grocery store trips are rather common. Friday night cruises? SURE!! Just tell me where! Heck, if money and time (read: new baby) would have allowed, I was all geared up to drive it (read again: NO TRAILER) to the National DeSoto club meet this year.

Purist? Sure.... Restifier? Absolutely.... Lover of all things finned from Ma-MoPar? Wouldn't have it any other way.

Rice? Best served fried. (check out my shirts sometime, I AM the Anti-Rice!)

Have fun and enjoy the ride!
