[FWDLK] ANSWERS, & some QUESTIONS

Ed Eckerson had asked, recently, about 1958 D500 engine-data.
The 1958 'standard' wedge-head, single 4-bbl engine (4.06" x 3.38"= 350
c.i.d.) was known as " Ram Fire" , and was rated @ 295 h.p. @ 4600rpm.
This engine was available only on the CRL & stationwagon models.

The 58 Royals 'came' with the 1957 Poly-head 4-bbl engine, "Super Red
Ram": 265 h.p.

The 58 Coro (V/8) models had the 1957 "Red Ram" Poly-head 2-bbl
engine: 252 h.p.

The 58 single-4-bbl wedge-head (available on all models) "D500"
engine was the SAME ENGINE as the "Ram Fire", except that it was
bored-out to
4.12" x 3.38"= 361 c.i.d., & rated @ 305 h.p. .

The 58 Super D500 engine was the SAME ENGINE, as the "D500", but it
reportedly had a
hotter cam & dual-point distributor, and a different right-side exhaust
manifold (shared with the "350" Fury & DeSoto Adventurer). However,
original-examples have been found with the same cam & single-point
distributors as in the "D500", even tho a specific dual-point
distributor was "assigned" to the Super-D. The "Super-D" had 2
4-bbls, & was rated @ 320 h.p. .

The Fulie was the 'same' as the Super-D, except for F-I stuff, & was
rated @ 333h.p. .

The "Ram Fire" & the "D-500" shared the SAME 4-bbl carb, #2642S.

The Super-D's carbs were 2652S & 2653S.

The engines were stamped ""L350-xxxx" or "L360-xxxx" , 'depending'.

Now, QUESTIONS:

Does anyone have a copy of the 1958 Carter-Carb "Specifications" , on
the "Standard" single-4-bbl carb (#2642S) ???

Does anyone have experience with buying/installing any After-Market
"Viscous"
heat/rpm-sensitive fan assembly--like the 57 -58 Chryslers had, on them?
It seems
ludicrous that these mileage/performance-
enhancing devices are not retrofitted on ALL our cars????!!!! Who sells
them, & how well do they work?
