Reiterating what Scott said, please note that plain/regular auto primer
is NOT a good rust preventative, as it is , molecularly, very-porous;
there are a lot of 'dedicated'  under-coatings, for the purpose, but
automobile primer, by itself, is NOT a good corrosion preventer.
