I used to hate them in the early 50's, working in a gas station. Remember them? You sat in your car while some other dummy (me) struggled with the "Filler up's".
It seems to me that you could take off the tank, install a nipple on the top, and run a vent howe up into a fender well. This would require a safety valve end, in case of a roll over, but it would relieve the trapped air so it wouldn't burp back thru the filler.


I know we wished Chrysler had taken the designers of that particular area out to the parking lot and made them fill up a thousand cars each. Bet they'd thought about everything a little longer after that!

I've tried the going slow thing,? the listening thing, the 3/4 thing,? but? what i have been doing,? is going into the shop and getting a big wad of paper towels,? i wrap it around the nozzle after its in the pipe and kinda make a tight seal, so whatever spurts out, is absorbed, then i just thow the towel away.??
