Your engine is, indeed, a poly 270.  The Coronet V8 and Royal used the 270
block with poly heads (that were also used by the 1955 Plymouth).   Only the
Custom Royal had a 270-cid hemi V8 as standard equipment.

Chrysler's first wedge head V8 was the B block in 1958 (350 & 361).

Thanks for the info.  What I learned from the poly site  is that the poly
engine was not introduced until 1956 as a 277 cui in motor.  I have a 270
which is just a plain old little V8.
