Dave H. is referring to MISTER Bob Schmidt, the undisputed (by
me-n-Dave, & a lot of others) master of Forwardlook restorations.
A few years ago, Bob 'discovered' that the big-buk speculative market
(read: Japanese, & Euro) had dried up, so that good profits were not
attainable, on high-dollar restos.--Somewhere around 1990+, Bob adgrred
to be the 'head' restorer for the guy who founded 57 Heaven, which
features a representative car model of each 1957 U.S. car
(EXCEPT, reportedly, a 57 D501, as that car was 'traded' to Ryan
Newman's race car owner, in exchange for a "try-out drive-test" , for
the museum owner's 'son'(?), with that race team).
If Ib see Bob, this weekend, I'll ask him for a status/re-confirm on
this story.
Meanwhile, the 57 Museum is , also, reportedly, being relocated from
Phoenix, to Branson, MO.
