Bill, the earlier styles don't have a rag joint. It was considered safer (in terms of failure) to have the steering shaft as one piece, which means dismantling the box to remove the shaft. On many cars you had to remove the mast jacket then pull from the bottom. The Mopar's with the big floor piece  give you the option of going either way. Typically pulling from the bottome if you have hoist access. Pulling out through the interior is a pain to keep everything clean if you aren't in full restoration mode.
