Re: [FWDLK] [Chrysler300] vinyl dye and stuff

I've used the stuff in spray cans (generally PlastiKote brand) on many
vehicles over the years, and have never had any issues. Like any
painting job, surface preparation is the key. I always scrub the
surface with acetone and paper towels until the vinyl starts to become
slightly tacky. Then I let it dry for a little while, and spray on the
vinyl 'dye'.

I have been told that the vinyl 'dye' isn't dye per se, but actually
just vinyl in a spray can. You are actually applying a new layer of
vinyl to the old surface.

I dyed a black dashboard to a carmel color about 15 years ago, and it
has never flaked, discolored or rubbed off.

John -

Did you use the dye or the stuff in the spray cans ?
