Re: [FWDLK] 1959 383 engine with dual 4-barrel carbs

Nither Dodge nor DeSoto - it was a Chrysler.

"M" is for 1959 and "R" was used for Raised block - the RB engines. The
American-built 1959-60 Chrysler Windsor snd Saratoga used the RB 383. The
"B" block 383 was stamped "ML".

The "7078" is the sequential engine number, which started at 1001. So it
was the 6,076th RB383 built for 1959,

Subject: [FWDLK] 1959 383 engine with dual 4-barrel carbs

I have a friend with a 1959 383 engine with dual four barrel carbs. Engine
stampings include MR383, with 7078 below MR383. Do the numerals 7078 mean
anything or are they just production sequence numbers? What would this
engine have been in -- a Desoto Adventurer or Dodge D500? Thanks, Jim
