Re: [FWDLK] Engine size for 1955 Belvedere

I remember the number on it is in the same place as a Chrysler 331/354, top
of block just ahead of the valley cover, but I don't remember which year it
came back to.

I'm looking at the photo I took back then and it looks like P27-5xxx, which
would make it a '55 block and either a 241 or a 259 according to the book I
have. This is the motor in the truck with the Dodge heads on it -

My dumb question would be to find out if you could adapt a Borg-Warner T5 (5
speed, 5th OD, used in S10, Camaro, Mustang, some Jeeps) behind the Dodge
241 block family. For what it's worth, they have adapters to run them
behind flatheads and they'll work behind Chevy 216/235 I6 and V8 if you use
the right bellhousing and shorten the input shaft one inch or use an adapter
plate.

My guess is the fastest way to find out would be to round up a Dodge manual
bell and trans and the right bell and the T5 and compare to see how
different things are. If you still have that extra inch on the input
shaft, it shouldn't be a big deal to whip up a spacer/adapter.
