[FWDLK] Harmonic Balancer Question

Hi Everyone -

How can you tell if a harmonic balancer needs rebuilding ? Hypothetically
speaking , if I have an engine that seems to run well despite being many
decades old, and I remove the harmonic balancer in order to replace the
timing chain and gears, can I tell from a *visual inspection* if it needs
rebuilding ?

BTW, yes, I plan to have it rebuilt by a competent shop, such as Damper
Dudes.
