Blue locktite is wrench removable without heat and red can also be loosened without heat with sufficient force but heat is preferable, you don't need enough heat to change the properties of the metal though.

Ummmm, that?s not what it says on the bottle, when it?s cured, it?s permanent, it might as well be welded, you?d need a mighty big wrench.

Umm, its not a welder. Locktite will let go when you put a wrench to it.

Subject: [FWDLK] Front disc brake conversion....red loctite?

Hi everyone,

I have a front disc brake conversion kit here from AAJ Brakes, everything looks really nice. The only questionable thing, to me, is using RED LOCTITE in between the adapter and spindle. As far as I know, once this adapter has red loctite on it, it will become a permanent part of the spindle. So if you were to go back to drums or whatever (probably not likely but it?s nice to have that option) your spindles are affectively useless?..unless you use heat to remove which is not recommended on steering components. There isn?t a lot of spare spindles?.down here anyway. Would it be better to use a sleeve locking compound or similar which could be removed, with difficulty, if needed. Rather than using the permanent red thread loctite?

Anyone been through this?

Thanks

Owen
