STP is little more than a Viscosity Index Improver. This is what the refineries add to oil when refining it to bring it up to the weight they want, like 40 weight. It mostly thickens the oil. Just buy thicker oil and save the money.

I used STP in the 60's and it damaged my 409 two times. The first time within 1 hour of the oil change and I didn't connect the damage to the STP, but the second time, it blew within 5 minutes of the oil change. I've never used it since and have never lost another engine either!

Question though.  I just did an oil change on a vehicle with noisy
lifters, and I added a pint of STP.  Would MMO and STP work well
together, or should only one be used at a time?
