[FWDLK] goodbye Mr. Newport!

I'm saddened and relieved to see the 1961 Newport going to it's new owner. As
many of you know I've been working on this car for my father for the past 10
months and this weekend he came and took it home. I left him the under hood
cosmetics and the exhaust system (just so he feels like he did something). I'm
happy with the results, we decided on a mild custom partly because it's fun and
mostly because of the expense of a proper restoration. The custom tail lights
had to be done simply because the housings and associated trim are impossible to
find for less than a mortgage. I considered converting the back up lights into
tail lights and filling the space where the old ones were but it seemed like too
permanent a solution. The color is a silver basecoat/clearcoat with a bit more
flake than stock and a bone white interior. I had always intended the use
lowering blocks and loosen the torsion bars to lower the car but instead decided
to lower the front about 1.5" and leave the back alo
ne. The first car I haven't really lowered and I like it! Next will be a 56
Packard Clipper, but I'll be staying on the list for a while because I like you
guys. I have pictures and if you'd like to see them I'll be happy to email them to you off list.
 Thanks for all the help!!
Larry Gardinier
