I agree with you in that the bias feel better to me on anything '56 or earlier.  In fact with a heavy older car that I've owned in the past, it seemed to wallow with radials.
 
Maybe it's the old steering geometry, because on '57 and up I prefer the radials.

    I don't hear anyone keeping with their bias plys for the feel.  I really don't care for the way the radials feel on the road, and I really don't like the wide tread / short sidewall look.
