Yeah, you don't need to tell me that...
I started a group on Yahoo about four or five years ago for 1971-1976 Fullsize GM autos...I'm not a derbier, but it didn't take long to learn they're probably the most popular derby cars out there.  They don't all start out in great shape though, and its those people that I can actually appreciate in some sense (at least the heap can go down in a blaze of glory instead of rotting in a driveway).

I'll never forget that page I saw where some guy derbied a 57 Dodge...I doubt I kept it as I likely would've studied the images until I figured where he lived and then paid the dude a visit....too bad his head wasn't sticking out the window while he was driving it.

What drives me crazy with Boyd's show is that he'll buy a car that looks to be in great condition...either an original or restored...and he'll plunk down more money on it than most people could afford just so he has a nice "clean slate" to start from...meaning when they tear it all apart, there won't be as much work to do, maybe, in the long run.  The best part is after Boyd purchases a project car, how he takes it and just keeps the gas pedal down to the floor until the engine or transmission (or both) explode and leave a puddle underneath.  I'm sure there are people out there that could use some of these parts that he otherwise destroys.  If he enjoys destroying cars, maybe he'd be a better demo derby guy...I don't like to promote demo derbys either, but at least they "usually" start with pretty crappy cars from the get go.

I must admit, I have never seen his show!  I watched a portion of it once ? everyone was screaming and yelling and I turned it off; just typical television theatrics, I figured.
