[FWDLK] Fwd: Re: [FWDLK] Hi, rear end!

Thanks, Mike, but what/which input shaft yoke size am I looking for
(List)????

Definitely want to make sure I get what I need, but, hopefully, it will
be rebuildable, & not a sea- anchor.

There seems to be a lot of 2.76 applications, out there; I'd like to get
a 2.92 .

Funny thing: I contacted Randy's Ring & Gear, a couple months ago, just
to see what a 3.0:1 gear set might cost, & was informed by them, that
the HIGHEST gear-set that they carry is 3.55:1 . Seems that with the
O.D. trannies, like Keisler, out there, there is no demand for high
range gear sets.

Neil,
Once upon a time I owned a '68 satellite with a 318/ torqueflite, it had 2.76 gears so there should some high-geared B-bodies out there somewhere. I believe some of the 383-two barrel equipped C-bodies from that period were similarly equipped also. When you go looking for donors to plunder, be sure to measure the input shaft yoke, there were at least two different u-joint sizes used.

I'm interested in installing an about 2.94:1 differential (on my car) ,
and read in my 8/07 Hemmings Classic Car that the early 70's
Valiant/Dart with the 318 V/8 had this ratio.

Would this third-member be for a 8 3/4" rear end; which series would it
be (741? ), and would it bolt up to "our" axle housings????

I haven't started calling on finding one, which will, undoubtedly
require an overhaul, anyway.

Anyone know of a w.y. that would specialize on the Vals/Darts?
