[FWDLK] Painted Ladies...

If Jim Hoekendijk's "Nadine" (original-condition 1957 red/white D500
4-dr, or anyone else with an original condition engine compartment...)
is not too deeply put away to slumber for the impending winter (if it
ever arrives in SoCal) he might send some pics of its engine
compartment and inner fenders .

BTW, & I can send pics to anyone so interested, my car also still
sports its OEM full-gloss (for 1957) radiator core support, too.

I've got that issue, right here; you don't reference a particular page
number.

If you're talking about the 58 Regal Lancer (p. 65), it has an incorrect
engine compartment refinishing. You might also note, about that car, in
Re: incorrectness, that the fin "shield" emblems are installed
facing-backwards, and the wheels are painted body-color, instead of
eggshell white.

The other cars' engine shots are inconclusive, as far as paint-gloss is
concerned.

Were the LA assembled cars different then? On them the inner fenders, power brake unit, vacuum tank and air cleaner were semi-gloss. Collectible Automobile Vol 10 #2 [8/93] shows photos both semi-gloss and full-gloss.

Geez I hate being wrong AGAIN, especially when it's the first thing I said...

You both missed that there should be no decal on the core support.

Sorry, Roger: but you're wrong, again: the gloss-factor is right-on, the generator has its green metal tag and its red-paper tag, the valve covers (actually: rocker-covers) are the correct color, but the JAG XJ viscous fan clutch, the mid-60's Hemi 7-blade fan, and the Low-Boy mid/late 60's MoPar dual master cylinder ARE not OEM, but you COMPLETELY missed the carb being a Special-Police unit , and the decals on the core support are not correct, for 1957.

The belts and wiring, altho MoPar brand, are not date-coded for 1957.

The paint ON the inner fenders IS date-coded OEM 1957 material.

Do you suggest that I not advertise my car as being 1-of-50, when I sell it at the B-J , to un-suspecting bidders?

No, you can't look under MY hood!
