the imperial cables are longer, but that may not help too much if the cable is currently aiming into/at the exhaust....

the cables are different from car to car... fo instance- the 59 plymouth cable is about 2" shorter than a 57/8 plymouth..... due to the position of the mech in the dash from model years.  the same may hold true for the dodge.... but never swapped dashes other than same-year in them and desotos.
