Re: [FWDLK] Pertronix Ignitor

I wish I could recall what kind/brand of E.I. I installed 15+ years
ago, but the company that sold it was in PA, IIRC.

That system was supposed to fit completely under the distributor cap,
but, when it arrived there was a separate control-box, which I installed
discretely up/under the dashboard, by the hood-hinge mounting bracketry.

The (nice) thing about E.I. , is that you forget that it's even there,
because there is no maintenance to it.

Thanks to scare-stories about the imminent catastrophic failure of the
E.I. system, for the trip to Tulsaramaville, I bought &
overhauled/dialed-in a replacement points-distributor, which can be
bolted- in/connected, on-the-road, should the E.I. ever suddenly stop
working.

So, if you install an E.I. system, you probably should carry a set-up
spare points-dissie in the car, "just-in-case".

I also carry a bunch of spares in the trunk, including a water pump,
fuel pump, voltage regulator, belts, & what-not....

Be Prepared.

Anyone use either the Pertronix Ignitor or Ignitor II Electronic Ignition in your older MOPARs?  I am looking at these for my '64 Fury Convertible (318 Poly), or possibly my 59 Coronet (326).

Any real advantage to the Pertronix II vice the regular Pertronix?  Prices are $90 and $66 respectively.  Are they reliable and easy to install?  I am interested in keeping the original appearance.

Thanks.
