Re: [FWDLK] Ignition safety switch

Roger,
Excellent advice!!!! I bought a few thru the years for the cars I have had and it is so much easier when a question occurs.

Jack in Shinglehouse, Pa Spring is just around the corner---just can't find the corner

This is a golden opportunity to repeat some good advice-- always buy
yourself a factory service manual [FSM]. Some FSM's are better than others,
but all show the details of your particular car. Reprints are often
available for the FSM's which have become too expensive in original form.
Even if you're not going to do the work yourself, the FSM shows you and your
mechanic what to do.

About the only drawback is that the FSM's are printed before model release,
so they do not show running changes. These were covered by technical
service bulletins which are sometimes available. But it's rare that the
basics changed much.

I own a '59 Belvedere 3 speed torqflite 318 CID.

Can anyone out there tell me, was there a safety switch on the trany preventing the engine from starting while in gear?? If so, where is it located ? Mine now starts in any gear. Dangerous!!!!!

Thanks Don
