Re: [FWDLK] Heater box foam insulation

There's an expanding, very-solid close-cell foam wall insulation that's
applied under pressure, as a semi-liquid, but which expands immediately
to a thickness of about 6" . That product is quite common, on this side
of the Pond.

On TV, where you see it being applied, on Home Improvement shows, the
installer just waits a few moments for it to reach apogee, and then uses
an electric cutter to trim it back to the wall studs.

As that stuff can be cut-and-formed to shape quite easily, it would
appear to be a logical product to spray into your heater housing, as it
can be trimmed into whatever dimensions you desire.

Instant rigid-type foam insulation!

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a product to “re-install” the foam insulation on the internal surface of my ’57 300C heater box? Need something that expands only an inch or so when applied. Any tips on how to do it without creating a mess would be appreciated! Did all heater boxes have this internal insulation? The A/C cars had external foam around the blower motor too, right?

Thanks for the help.
