Re: [FWDLK] Miss Belvedere News

..Yeah, well it was the sisters' in-laws and out-laws (a nephew, in
particular) who convinced them (probably didn't take much effort) to try
to make a quick buck  by allowing Ultra None to strip off the
accumulated 'stuff' from the car.

The mind-boggling question (besides WHY someone would try to do that,
given the car's obviously rotten condition is:) WHAT did anyone expect
to find, underneath all that corrosion, and what could they do with the
remains, once it was uncovered?

   Neil,

You and I and 25% or so of the population grasps these mechanical concepts.  That leaves a heap big pile of headscratchers wondering "How DID he do that ?"

Ever wonder why more people do not restore old cars and just buy cheaper and cheaper crap for higher and higher prices ?  They are clueless beyond where to put the gas.  I am sure you have met oodles of people that see a car like yours and cannot begin to fathom how it got to look the way it does. "Simply magic", you old wizard, you !  The same people that see your car and are amazed to see such an old and what should be rusty, junky (in their minds) beater looking so new and beautiful, are the same ones who think that same wizardry can be applied to anything and a dazzling sparkle will soon follow.  They have no concept of total metallic disintegration, the kind of damage long term submersion can do, electrical, etc..  There Miss Belvedere sits, looking like it just needs a wipe down and a polish and she's good to go !  It can't be any worse than your car or mine, right ?  Just wave that magic wand and everything will com! e up sp arkly !

Neil--

Maybe there's a twelve-step program for Tulsarama-withdrawal...

Seriously, those ol' sisters are 93 and 83! They were 43 and 33 back in 1957. [Good math, right!] Very likely a 1957 model is just a used car to them. Their nostalgia would be more towards a 1920's or 1930's vintage car.

One thing positive I can say is that your commentary, Neil, has conveyed a certain sense of "being there" to those of us who weren't... for whatever reason. So keep your passion going!

Yeah, well I say, as a dues-paying member of the FWDLK-legation at the
Tulsarama event, a Super-deligate, if-you-will, that it is a Car-matic
shame that such an unappreciative, avaricious family had to win the
ownership of the car, and to attempt to strip it of its hard-earned
patina
and tomb-wounds, for the sake of the Almighty Dollar, instead of
arranging to preserve it as an historic artifact.

--Get over it, Neil...

Yeah, well, I'm really trying.

If you weren't there, you wouldn't understand.
