Back in the day, there was a local body shop owner here who had a reputation for being somewhat less than a perfectionist, he would offer to put on a "vinyl roof" for no extra cost rather than get a damaged roof straight enough to look good in paint.

It would be a cleaver painter who would have to reproduce that roof should it become damaged.
