Re: [FWDLK] Rebuilding an Oil Pump

Ron,

Your new oil pump will be the Melling M-51 item; let me know if you have difficulty finding one should you desire to go that route.

Ron,

Why not just buy a NEW oil pump? I would think it is the same as a later model 318 or even high volume 340.

If the original pump was frozen, I would be suspect of the condition of the shaft and bushings.

Hey Gang -

I disassembled the oil pump from my 59 Dodge 326 V8. Initially it was frozen
and wouldn't turn. But soaking in PB Blaster for a few minutes freed
everything up and it spins fine now. What I did notice was that the two
rubber O-rings inside were brittle and fell apart when I tried to remove
them.

Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit ? The oil pump is part no.

Thanks,

Ron
