Re: [FWDLK] Oil Strainer Needed

Ron:

When I restored my Fury's 303 I needed a new strainer also.  I made several.  To make them, I took a section of iron window screen and cut out circular pieces the size of the sump screen.  I then used a home zinc plating kit from Eastwood to put a heavy coating of zinc on the screen.  I then went to Home Depot and got a grommet kit and made the center holes.

I made about a dozen of them.  I put one on my Fury and kept one for a spare.  The rest I sold to other small block owners.

I think you should take the time to make new screens for yourself and other MoPar guys.  It is simple, but time consuming. I no longer have a workshop, or I would again make them myself.

Hey Gang -

I need a new oil strainer, which is the pickup tube that attaches to the oil
pump on 318 engines 1957-60, and 326 for 59 Dodge. Part no. is 1821168. Or
does someone have a way of replacing the filter screen on this piece, which
is the only problem with my strainer ?

Thanks,

Ron
