Re: [FWDLK] Is powder coating a good idea on/for FWDLK wheels?

I have been up to my ass in work and ignoring this thread until now.  My experience with powder coating has been negative.  It can and will "undermine" like rust does under paint.  And when it does, it peels off large.  There is no "touch up" repair option with powder coating, and the only way to remove the remaining PC material is a serious sandblasting and attendant refinishing of the surface to then proceed to try PC again or go back to paint.

After going down this road a couple times, I am done with powder coating.  Paint is durable, how it was done OEM, and maintenance / repair is a simple process.  PC is a PITA if you have to redo it.

I had my wheel rims powder coated and the powder coat definitely did chip
off where the sharp mounting clips contacted.
The 6 inch rims that I have since installed, I painted this time round
because I figured it couldn't be any worse than the damage caused to the
powder coated finish.

The Wheel Covers do not chip off the PC.
Mounting doesn't differ, but I do recall some balance weights coming
of pretty soon on one car.
