[FWDLK] Prevention of Gasohol Phase Separation

Title: Prevention of Gasohol Phase Separation

Hi to all,

The following is interesting reading and should be considered especially before winter storage of our FL Beasts.

Tony Rinaldi

Conclusions:

Eastwood Ethanol Fuel Protection and Fuel Stabilization formulas significantly increase E10 gasohol resistance to phase separation and decrease the probability that phase separation will occur in the fuel tank of stored vehicles.

Do ethanol fuel additives really deliver what they promise and help save your engine from the ravages of E10? In this article, some popular fuel additives are put to the test.

Did you know that certain fuel additives can increase the stability of fuels containing ethanol? Author and chemist Benjamin Kellogg discusses several readily available additives and how they can make modern fuels less harmful to your historic vehicles. This article, which first appeared in the Fall 2011 issue of Army Motors, presents the results of an objective experiment designed to prove or refute the benefits of “fuel stabilizers.” - The Editors

Introductio
n:

To design a simple, yet reproducible experiment to test the “storage enhancing” properties of fuel stabilizers, I decided to test the ability of these additives to alter phase separation points. Two additives were compared by a simple titration experime
nt.

Recap: Youth Judgin
g At Chocolate Town
by Tabetha Salsbury

Operation Ignite! Youth Judging team names their
top picks at Hershey.

Last month, youth judging made a sweet debut of sorts at the 56th annual AACA Hershey Fall Meet. More than 1,200 entries in all categories of antique automobiles were represented at this year’s car show, held on the event’s final day, October 8, 2011. This year marked the first appearance by Hagerty’s Youth Judgi
ng team at the event.

Hagerty’s Operation Ignite! allowed 15 young judges the rare opportunity to learn about and experience some really great cars at Hershey—vehicles that included a 1911 Model T touring car, a 1963 Sunbeam Alpine and even a 1926 Pontiac Boat Tail Spe
ed
ster “Hill Climber.”

The Concierge’s C

The HVA’s Answer Man, Glenn Arlt, gives his recommendations on three “must-have” titles for every re
storation and research library.

Around the offices of the Historic Vehicle Association, everyone pretty much agrees that what Glenn Arlt doesn’t know about old vehicles probably isn’t worth knowing. HVA members who have phoned in with questions—everything from identifying vehicles in old photos to help finding sources for rare parts—come away wondering how one man can become so wise and all-knowing. Arlt’s answer to that is simple: The
Answer Man is also a bookworm.

Res

The archival home of Tucker’s famous “Car of The Future,” this Disneyland for old car lovers just outside the “Other Motor City” also preserves the history of America’s
most “checkered” automotive past.

A short 15 minute drive from Kalamazoo, Michigan, there’s a small country town called Hickory Corners. Here, on 90-acres of pastoral farmland, sits one of North America’s premier automotive history destinations.

It’s a strangely serene setting for a car museum that has seen a flurry of activity in the past two years. Despite all the headlines declaring Michigan’s failing economy and tourism in a slump, the Gilmore Car Museum is in a phase of major expansion, begin
ning with the recently completed Franklin Automobile Collection and the addition of a new Restoration and Education Center.
