Re: [FWDLK] CLOCKS, CLOCKS, CLOCKS, ARE WE THAT OLD.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If my car was to not win a trophy, be it the clock wasn't working or because I had the wrong date coded bolts, or whatever I really wouldn't care, it all goes back to if that's how you want your car that's great but I personally could care less about impressing a judge, the idiot in shorts and sandals (with socks of course) who is pointing out every flaw in every car there, or whomever. I have never spent my life trying to please other people. I guess that's why my cars have miles on them and "road rash", I like to enjoy them. If I wanted trophies I could go out and buy them a lot cheaper than spending 10's of thousands of dollars on a car that can win me $5.00 trophies one at a time. Shows to me are more of a social gathering than a competition, it's nice to get out and BS with other car guys. I guess that's where us Hot Rodders (not street rodders) have an advantage, our cars don't have to be original and are expected to show signs of being driven. The Amphicar that I'm purchasing does have a non-functioning clock that I will have repaired (quartz conversion) but that's for my convenience, not for a guy with a clip board to give or take away points.

And since this thread has gone on so long I lost all of the vendors names mentioned, who has a good quartz clock guy that can fix my Amphi's clock?????

When I park one of my 300 letter cars at a show, I always disconnect the negative cable off the battery. My theory is that without any electrical, one can't have an electrical fire.  So that would mean that my clock would NOT be working!   Fern with 300H conv and 300L

Hi all:

Now let's not get carried away with the idea that clocks are not so important.  Several years ago, there was a car show at Sacramento where 2 cars were tied for the trophy.  The judges felt that they were identical as far as judging was concerned.  What to do!!!  Someone hit upon the idea to see if the radio, or was it the clock, worked.  Upon inspection, one car had whichever it was working and received the trophy.  So perhaps in the future, because your clock is running and the one in your fellow enthusiast's is not, you get the trophy.

Have fun.
