May have to pull the core plugs (including in the back of the block in front of the flywheel if they have em there, I can't recall on those engines).  Direct flush with hose and spray nozzle.  When I was doing a lot more of semi-pro garage work in the 80's my partner and I did so much of this fix that on 60's and 70's with 318's or 360's, we got to where with both of us working we could pull the motor, remove all plugs, clean it out, put new plugs in, get the motor back in and the car running and ready for the customer in 3 hours.  Probably take me 3 days now.
