Re: [FWDLK] 56 Desoto Tail Light Repops

Brent --
I chased the 3 links down & found that the AACA was from 2008 & filled with complaints about delivery time & praise for the quality of the parts. The FL Forum was from 2010 & mostly about alternates to George Laurie. The ch300imp link sent me to ad on the 300 site but it's last update was July 2003.
I sent an e-mail to the address on the site georgelaurie@xxxxxxxxxxx & am waiting for a reply. The site shows pics of gorgeous lenses with reasonable prices ($200 for the 6 lens set) & the DeSoto front Emblem for $100. But the ad/site is 10 years old.
I also blundered into another supplier, also in Australia, Tailights.com but it isn't very specific. I sent him an e-mail requesting info on Pricing & delivery time. Waiting for a reply.
You can never tell about complaints on a Forum listing but there's an awful lot of negative about his ability to deliver the product.
I continue to see references to Sweden but no contact info for them.
Doesn't seem that there is as much available now as there was when you bought them for your Adventurer.
Later.

Entirely possible, recouping Expense that is. As I remember it, it took 6 months to get them as well. Do you know how to get in touch with George? Perhaps I would rather buy them than make them. If they're $1,000 & I have to wait 6 months for them perhaps making them isn't such a bad idea...

I only offer this to save you some grief and possible expense that you won't recoup.

George Laurie offered them, and I got a set from Sweden too.  It has been a while since I sold my 56, and
those sources may not be current (?)

If they are still being made and at a reasonable price, it would seem a third producer would not sell many
for the expense and effort.  It sure would be nice to have a current web list of who makes what for our cars
with POC's.  Not much sense in re-inventing the wheel.  :-)

I've heard there were repops available but not where or who. I did hear that a set was bought from "Europe" & that they ran $1,000. I wouldn't call that reasonable.

Aren't there already at least two people making these ?  I know I bought several sets of repro lenses
when I had my 56 Adventurer.  They were perfect quality and reasonably priced.

Just testing the waters re: interest in Reproduction Tail Light Lenses for a '56 Desoto. UV Resistant & Non fade colors. If there's some interest, other than mine, we plan to make a test run based on my "Best Set" about the 1st of next year. My brother has had considerable experience with Buick & Pontiac Lenses from late 40's & early 50's. I'll let the list know how they turn out.
Thanks all.
