Re: [FWDLK] chrome and pot metal restorations

You are looking for a shop that does "acid copper" plating.   You know the old "copper, nickel, chrome" definition of triple plating which is basic to quality chrome plate.   Well "acid copper" is a multi-step process in itself and it causes the copper to flow into and fill the pits with the most common need being pot metal that has pitted badly.   It is time consuming because depending on how bad the part is, it can take several coats of fill and grind to get back to a smooth surface.   Time and material equals money.   Many chrome shops avoid a copper step at all.  Very few shops actually do "acid copper" because of time and cost.
Bottom line is you have to ask if a given shop will do acid copper.  Then expect the total cost to about double on any parts that you have done with acid copper.   Or:  "You get what you pay for".

do any of you know of an outfit for chrome and pot metal restorations?, I do not mind sending stuff off but want a place that will do the job not lose my parts and is reasonable in price. I want to send off a few parts to be redone.

Tail light surround bezels in particular on a 56 Dodge, and some other small stuff?.
