Re: [FWDLK] '59 Custom Royale value?

The answer is, 'it depends'.

Is the car in Arizona (dry) or Ohio (wet and soggy) ? Has the car been sitting on a dirt floor or concrete ? Is the roof caved in ? Glass broken ? Has water gotten into the engine and rusted the cylinders ? You should visit the car and take lots of pictures. Then determine the value.

Subject: [FWDLK] '59 Custom Royale value?

Hi all,

A buddy asked me to come with him this weekend to look over a '59 Dodge Custom Royale he found in a barn...unfortunately a collapsed barn.  I don't know much about that model but in the pic I can see it is a 2 door hardtop stuck in under those beams. What does the daughter of the late owner want for this car that has sat in that barn since 1970 (yes 43 years since being on the road)?  Well now that someone is actually interested, she is "going to research it".  I'm sure she will find one that got bid to $40,000 or something at a TV auction, so of course hers must be at least worth $20,000.  I told him that IF he did decide to try to go for it, to offer $500 and explain that it is a car that will need extensive time to just remove the barn from around it, then several thousand dollars of investment just to be able to drive around his driveway, and otherwise wish her good luck.  But, any list members have a different idea on the value?
