[FWDLK] SEARCH TUNE RADIO QUESTION

Ed,

The mechanical movement mechanism probably just needs some
lubrication. I took a similar radio out of a junk yard once and the
mechanism was very sticky. I would take the radio out of the car,
remove the cover, hook it up to 12V power, and observe the mechanism
in motion. Spray a little WD-40 or very light oil on the moving parts.
Once the search starts, and without an antenna, it will continue to
search for a signal, forever, until it finds a strong signal. Don't
let it go more and a couple of cycles before you turn it off to avoid
over-heating.

When the dial reaches the RH end, a relay is powered and that slams
the mechanism back to the LH end, and winds a spring that provides the
power to travel to the right when searching.

Subject: [FWDLK] SEARCH TUNE RADIO QUESTION

 HELLO MEMBERS

I have a search tune in my 58 FURY.
IT WORKS FINE--except on occasion the dial gets 'stuck' when
searching
or even when dial is moved by hand.

Once given a nudge it goes about its business.

Any idea if I can just do a hand repair job?
Is there some kind of belt inside that moves the dial that can be
 replaced or tightened?
Anyone know of a repair shop that has experience with them??

 THANKS
 ED ECKERSON
