  The frame on my 56 was sand blasted and powder coated. Engine/chassis number was clearly stamped and readable on hump.

Actually, there are 2 numbers stamped on the frame just over the left rear axle.
There is a deep stamping which is the frame P/N code.
And a very light stamping which is the engine serial number. On mine, the engine number was very faint, and just in the paint and not into the steel. If the frame has been painted or the original paint flaked off, it will be gone.

On the 56 plymouth, the number on the chasis is on the out side of the chasis on the hump over the left rear axel. This number should be the same as the engine for matching numbered car. It may be hard to read because of dirt and rust. Wire brush it.

Subject:[FWDLK] 58 plymouth number questions

Dear list,

Today I got my 58 Belvedere taxed. We came upon some questions;

The number at the drivers door says; LP2L 19229, but LP2L seems to indicate a Plaza...

There is also a number under the hood on the right, that says (if I read it correctly, it is hard to read due to the thick paint on it) ?? 325 LP2L 252 203 133

There should also be a number on the chassis, but we could not find it. Does anyone know exacly where it should be?

Is it possible to find out the original color by any of these numbers?

Is it possible to find out if the engine is still the original?

Thanks for any help!
